A GCISD Story
As a fifth-generation Texan, Lindsey’s roots run deep in our community.
A Grapevine resident for 30 years, Lindsey thrived in our GCISD schools, attending Bear Creek Elementary, Heritage Middle School, and Colleyville Heritage High School. In 2000, Lindsey graduated from Colleyville Heritage High School - the first class to attend all four years at CHHS. During high school, Lindsey was a Panther cheerleader, spirit sister, and editor of the newspaper and yearbook.
GCISD schools set the stage for Lindsey’s success at the university level.Upon graduation from Colleyville Heritage, Lindsey attended Texas A&M University, earning her Bachelors of Business Administration from the prestigious Mays Business School. After receiving her business degree from Texas A&M University, she attended Texas Tech University School of Law, graduating in 2007 with her Juris Doctorate.
Lindsey is a staunch supporter and advocate for our public schools.She is the proud daughter of a retired GCISD teacher with thirty six years of experience in education. Her mom, Lori, spent twenty two years serving the children of GCISD. Lori taught at Bear Creek and Grapevine Elementary Schools and finished out her education career teaching eighth-grade Gifted and Talented English at Colleyville Middle School.
Lindsey is also married to an educator.She met her husband Brian, a fellow attorney and educator, while attending Texas Tech University School of Law. After practicing law for a decade, Brian decided to follow his true passion – teaching. Brian teaches in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD, where he is part of the Law and Criminal Justice Academy at Creekview High School. In addition to teaching law-related classes, Brian coaches several award-winning mock trial teams. He works daily to give students the opportunity to learn and hone their advocacy skills.
Lindsey has a vested interest and stake in our neighborhood schools. Lindsey and Brian moved their family to Grapevine so their two children could attend GCISD schools. Their daughter attends Heritage Middle School and is a bass-clarinetist in the Honors Band. She will be a freshman next year at CHHS, where the Sheguit family is excited to watch her perform in the Panther Marching Band. Their son is a second grader at Grapevine Elementary and plays baseball with the City of Grapevine.
As a prosecutor for over 17 years with the Denton County DA’s Office,
Lindsey has a deep commitment to protect and fight for our children. She seeks justice on behalf of victims, families, and the community. She is currently employed as the Chief of the Misdemeanor Trial Division training new prosecutors.
During her tenure, Lindsey tried over 180 jury trials, earning her a reputation as a formidable advocate. Her extensive trial experience includes Capital Murder, Child Sexual Assault and Injury cases, and Domestic Abuse cases.
While working as the Chief of the Crimes Against Children unit at the District Attorney’s office, Lindsey collaborated with a Multi-Disciplinary Team comprised of law enforcement, child protective services, family and victim advocates, medical professionals, and counselors to safeguard children from sexual and physical abuse while holding perpetrators accountable for harming the most vulnerable in our community.
Lindsey believes in leadership through service. She is currently serving as the Heritage Middle School Band Booster Vice President with GCISD Band Boosters. Lindsey represents the HMS band students and families at the district level, ensuring our musicians and band programs have support to succeed. As a member of the Grapevine Elementary PTA, Lindsey served as a homeroom mom, PTA Advocacy Chair, and Grade Level Coordinator. She is also a member of Grapevine Elementary’s Campus Excellence Committee. Additionally, Lindsey serves on the Executive Board as the Communications Chair for Grapevine-Colleyville SAGE. There, she advocates for and supports our ASPIRE, GT-LEAD, and Advanced Placement students.
While attending Texas A&M University, Lindsey served as President for Aggie Habitat for Humanity, spending her weekends building homes for deserving families within the Bryan-College Station area.
As a GCISD Trustee, Lindsey will lead with compassion, respect, and integrity. Lindsey is committed to putting our children at the forefront of every decision she makes as a Trustee. Lindsey is dedicated to tackling the issues facing our district with tenacity and innovation and earning the trust of our community.
